After the successful launch of the new Toyota Prius, Lexus now gets its own exclusive hybrid luxury sedan, the 2010 HS 250. Based on a combination of Prius, Camry Hybrid and European Toyota Avensis parts, the HS 250 uses a 187-hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder with a full battery pack to deliver a combined 50 mpg. Surprisingly, the HS is a nimble car, and handles well. It’s comfortable for four, and the interior features Lexus’ new mouse-style controller for the optional navigation system.

Pros

 Good economy, fun to drive

Cons

Cabin tight for tall drivers
