Lexus’ best shot at beating the BMW 3 Series continues unchanged into 2010. The IS comes with either a 204-hp 3.5-litre V6 or a 306-hp 3.5-litre V6. While a six-speed manual is standard on the base car, six-speed automatics dominate the rest of the range. Also, while the IS is nominally rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is optional on the IS 250. Exterior design is holding up well, but interior is tight for six-footers, especially in the back.

Pros

Powerful, stylish performance sedan

Cons

Not for tall people
