The Compass enters 2010 as one of Jeep’s entry-level models aimed more at image and fuel efficiency rather than off-road prowess. Front-wheel drive models use a 158-hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder with either a five-speed manual or CVT. Four-wheel drive Compasses use a 172-hp 2.4-litre version. Interior is basic, but improved thanks to a recent redesign. Materials are of much better quality than before.
