The DTS remains in Cadillac’s lineup as a throwback to the ‘traditional’ North American buyers. It’s a front-wheel drive V8-powered highway cruiser for the silver-haired set. Its 4.6-litre Northstar engine only produces 275 horsepower, which was competitive in the mid ‘90s when the engine was first launched. Now, even normal V6 options in bread-and-butter Hondas and Nissans beat that handily. Even the CTS’ upscale V6 out powers the DTS by almost 50 ponies. Expect the DTS to disappear in the next couple years. For now, it remains a quiet, luxurious middle-of-the-road machine.
