After the death of the gargantuan Excursion SUV, the Expedition – and long-wheelbase Expedition Max – was left to fight the full-size SUV battle for Ford. Both are equipped by a 300-hp 5.4-litre V8 with a six-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. An independent rear suspension means the Expedition is more composed over rough terrain than other big ‘utes. Seven seats are standard in both, but Max adds extra cargo carrying capacity.
Cons
No small diesel to offset fuel costs
