Powerful, stable, reliable

Acura’s flagship RL received a solid mid-cycle update in 2009, so there isn’t much new for ’10. The RL comes loaded with a 300-hp 3.7-litre V6 and the company’s SH-AWD system with five-speed automatic. The RL is larger than you might imagine, and seats five comfortably in its well-equipped and quiet interior. The most interesting safety feature is the Collision Mitigation Braking System that uses the car’s front radar transmitter to detect rapidly approaching vehicles. If the driver fails to make any adjustments, the RL will apply the brakes to either expand the gap, or reduce the speed of the eventual collision.
