After a complete redesign in 2009, the Acura TL gains only one significant change for 2010: the availability of a six-speed manual transmission on the performance-oriented SH-AWD version. The manual saves about 40 kg compared to the five-speed automatic, which when mated to the 305-hp 3.7-litre V6 improves acceleration, braking and handling. New 18-inch wheels and performance tires balance out the package. That same six-speed is still available in front-wheel-drive versions of the 280-hp 3.5-litre V6-equipped TL too. Inside, the TL’s cabin is strangely laid out, but all of the features you could want are there, and familiarity should help.

Pros

Finally, a manual with Acura’s all-wheel-drive system

Cons

Challenging exterior design
