A couple surprises are in store for the Cobalt Coupe buyers. While General Motors announced that its SS performance designations would fade away, the Cobalt SS remains available in its tire-squealing glory. While the regular Cobalt Coupe gets a 155-hp 2.2-litre four-cylinder, the SS gets a 265-hp turbocharged 2.0-litre. Both get five-speed manuals standard, but only the regular Cobalt is available with a four-speed automatic. SS also gets sportier wheels and tires, tighter suspension and better brakes. While the Cobalt Coupe’s interior is plain, it is functional. The SS’ seats, however, are very supportive and comfortable.

Pros

SS a bargain rocket ship

Cons

Not the best car for the money
