While traditionally the V70 wagon was based on the mid-sized S60, this latest version moves up a step, and shares its platform with the full-blown S80 sedan. The V70 is big, holding over 2,100 L of stuff, and is powered by 235-hp 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and ether front- or all-wheel drive. The Four-C active chassis helps keep the big Volvo’s body in check, while the reams of other safety systems protect the five occupants against the unknown.
