Audi’s entry-level luxury hatchback received its big update in 2009, now offering Quattro all-wheel drive on the standard 200-hp 2.0-litre TFSI engine, and some minor visual tweaks. For 2010, the A3 inherits the corporate 140-hp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine from the new Volkswagen Golf and Jetta. While power appears mild on paper, in reality the 230 lb-ft of torque are more than enough to encourage spirited driving, and provide class-leading fuel economy too. The 3.2-litre V6 is almost superfluous at this point. Inside, the A3 can be ordered with almost every option familiar to drivers of larger Audis, while S Line packages add some extra aggression.
