One of Toyota’s perennial best-sellers, the Corolla offers a wide array of options for potential buyers. Power comes from a 132-hp 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, or an optional 158-hp 2.4-litre version. Both engines come with five-speed manual transmissions, but offer four- or five-speed automatics as options. The exterior design is safe, and even the sporty XRS isn’t a dramatic departure. Inside, the Corolla offers excellent storage and design, but the materials are cheap and brittle.
