Volvo’s tribute to the old P1800 sportscar gets a new nose for 2010. It’s the subtlest change imaginable, but keeps the three-door hatch fresh. Power comes from a 168-hp 2.4-litre five-cylinder, or an optional 227-hp 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder. Transmissions are five- and six-speed manuals, or five-speed automatics. The interior is modern and stylish, with room in the rear seats for actual people. As on all Volvos, safety is the first priority, and the C30 comes loaded to the gills with all the latest technology.

Pros

Freshened face

Cons

Expensive, not great to drive
