The new sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf is mainly a change of aesthetics, since the engines, interior, and in some cases, the wheels are identical. The new Volkswagen ‘face’ is very distinctive, though. The Golf is available in three or five-door models, with a 170-hp 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine. Transmissions are either a five-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic. The five-door also gets the option of VW’s excellent 140-hp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, with a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG transmission. The biggest change to the interior is the addition of a steering wheel taken from the Passat CC.
