In light of the new Panamera, the Cayenne SUV rarely gets much flack anymore. Its capabilities are amazing, both on-road and off. Power comes from a 290-hp 3.6-litre V6, a 385-hp 4.8-litre V8 (S), a 405-hp 4.8-litre V8 (GTS, Transsyberia), a 500-hp twin-turbocharged 4.8-litre V8 (Turbo) and a 550-hp version (Turbo S). All models use full-time four-wheel drive, and use six-speed automatic transmissions. While the Cayenne works wonderfully in the rough stuff, the GTS is a legitimate performance machine, especially with its six-speed manual transmission.

Pros

Hard to beat performance

Cons

Styling needs aquired taste
