While the seven-seat R-Class people mover has never been the success Mercedes-Benz thought it would be, it’s still an excellent way to travel. Power comes from either a 210-hp 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 or a 268-hp 3.5-litre V6. Both use seven-speed automatic transmissions and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Adjustable suspension, leather-covered captain’s chairs, and excellent audio systems make the drive as painless as possible.

Pros

BLUETEC version rapid and efficient

Cons

Still looks a little fishy
