The ‘original’ four-door coupe, the CLS-Class, is taking a year off from any changes. It’s still powered by a 382-hp 5.5-litre V8, with a seven-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels. The exterior design is still dramatic, helped by large, 19-inch five-spoke wheels and that sloping rear roof-line. The design does make getting in and out of the rear seats a bit of a chore, but that’s life with a coupe, right? Interior is based on last-generation E-Class, so it does look a little dated.

Pros

Still stands out amongst more plebeian machinery

Cons

Rear seats not for tall people
