The all-conquering AMG versions of Mercedes-Benz’ SL roadster have very different personalities. The SL63 is the track rat, using the 518-hp 6.2-litre V8, a trick seven-speed transmission, adjustable suspension and launch control. The SL65 uses a 603-hp twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre engine and focuses more on outright speed and acceleration. But you wouldn’t kick either out of your garage if you were handed the keys...

Pros

Most powerful pair of roadsters yet

Cons

Fuel bills must be painful
