Mercedes-Benz’ iconic SL roadster received its updates in 2009, so the ’10 models remain unchanged. Power comes from either a 385-hp 5.5-litre V8 or a 510-hp twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12. The styling changes were fairly dramatic, and mean the SL will happily move into a new decade with essentially the same body. Interior changes are less obvious, but still provide excellent luxury, presence and comfort.

Pros

Fast, secure, convertible

Cons

Not a sports car
