Following in the footsteps of last year’s successful C-Class redesign, it’s now the E-Class’ chance. Power is carried over from the last generation, meaning a 268-hp 3.5-litre V6 or a 382-hp 5.5-litre V8. Both come equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive standard. The new exterior follows the themes set out in the C-Class, but with a more mature look. Inside, gone are the curvy, organic lines of the old E in favour of rigid lines and sharp angles. Models come well equipped, but going crazy with the options list can get out of hand.

Pros

The new mid-sized luxury standard

Cons

Expensive options
