The latest C-Class finally hit the target that Mercedes-Benz had set: to be a driving equal of BMW’s 3 Series. The Benz also wins in the looks department with its sharp bodylines, sport grille, and aggressive wheel packages. Power comes from a 201-hp 2.5-litre V6, a 228-hp 3.0-litre V6, or a 268-hp 3.5-litre V6. All come in either rear- or 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Only the base model gets a six-speed manual; the rest use a seven-speed automatic. The cabin uses excellent materials in its design, but doesn’t appeal to everyone. Rear seat is acceptable for space.

Pros

The BMW 3 Series’ equal

Cons

Wishing for a manual transmission
