The 2010 Mazda3 gets a near-complete redesign, with a big smiley face taken from the Nagare concept. Power comes from a 148-hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, or an optional 168-hp 2.5-litre version. A six-speed manual is standard, with a five-speed automatic optional. The Mazda3 Sport’s athletic demeanour continues in the new model, making it one of the most entertaining small cars to drive. The interior undergoes a less dramatic change, but leather seats, adaptive front lighting, and a navigation system are optional on GT models.

Pros

A worthwhile update

Cons

Tiny navigation screen hard to read
